Background
Fedrick Nkulekelo Ndlovu is an exceptionally skilled and talented metal welding artist. He started his artistic career at a very young age, and could not finish formal education due to health issues. He has learnt and practiced his skill and talent in different countries.

The Bushmen
Early in his career he became an apprentice of one of Zimbabwe's most famous metal sculptor, Adam Madebe. Fedrick has also spent considerable time producing art in Botswana, this can been seen by his close to perfection depiction of the Kalahari's Khoisan's (Bushmen) lifestyle in his works.
The Southern African People
Back in South Africa, Fedrick has shown keen interest in the lifestyle of the the Southern African people (Bantu); his human sculptures highly portrays their history and their modern lives, and it covers their way of survival, beliefs, beauty and classes. Fedrick is at his best when portraying the Zulu warriors, which are known for their past bravery. Although there are no reliable portraits of the legendary Zulu king Shaka, most people are tempted to name every other warrior sculptor produced by Fedrick: "Shaka". Also amongst his works, you will find the sculptures of the young kids, maidens, and old women and men.
The Animals
His animal sculpture work covers a wide range of animals, the cheetah being one of his favorites.
The Birds
Fedrick often refers to Newman's Birds of Southern Africa for the accurate modelling of his non-bulk bird art.
The Production Method
Fedrick first models his big sculptures using clay. He then cuts and shapes metal pieces around his models; he then removes the clay and welds the pieces together. most of his other art forms come from his imagination and memory.Fedrick's ability to produce well proportioned sculptures with complicated postures can hardly be matched.
Fedrick continually improves his skills by visiting the other artists in the neighboring countries for sharing and updating of his knowledge.
